NEW YORK (AP) _ Apollo Commercial Real Estate Finance (ARI) on Thursday reported first-quarter net income of $58.3 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The New York-based company said it had profit of 37 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 39 cents per share.

The real estate investment trust posted revenue of $71.2 million in the period.

Apollo Commerical Finance shares have risen 33% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $14.81, more than doubling in the last 12 months.
