San Francisco, Sep 14 (EFE).- Apple's new iPhone 13, which the firm unveiled on Tuesday, is focusing the majority of its improvements on the camera and has kept the smartphone's design largely identical to that of the popular 12 model, which has had great sales success since it was introduced last year.

Apple presented the iPhone 13 at an event where, as expected, it also announced the new version of its Apple Watch Series 7 smartwatch and at which the firm headed by Tim Cook surprised the public by launching the new versions of its iPad and iPad Mini.

As has been quite the norm, the new smartphone comes in several versions: the standard 6.1-inch screen for $799; the Mini, with its 5.4-inch screen, for $699, and the more complete Pro and Pro Max versions, with 6.1 and 6.7-inch screens and priced starting at $999 and $1,099, respectively.

The standard version of the iPhone 13 has a camera with a 12-megapixel lens and an aperture of 1.6, along with another super wide-angle lens (also 12 megapixels) but with an aperture of 2.4 and a vision field of 120 degrees and improved stabilization and movement technology.

In the specific case of the two high-end versions - the 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max - a third telephoto lens has been added, as Apple already did for its iPhone 12, and the screen has a much faster refresh rate.

Regarding the design, the most relevant novelty is that the so-called "notch" - the famous area at the top of the screen where the frontal camera and stereo speaker are located - has been significantly reduced in size: by 20 percent, according to Apple.

The screen has gained increased brilliance using Super Retna XDR technology and the camera is capable of capturing up to 47 percent more light under low-light conditions.

All the models of the new phone have an A15 Bionic chip manufactured by Apple and have battery life of 1.5-2.5 hours more than the iPhone 12.

Another novelty is the movie-mode for filming videos which allows the user to shift the focus either automatically or manually from a subject in the foreground to one in the background and vice versa, according to how the video action unfolds, thus creating an effect similar to that seen in films.

In addition, the iPhone 13 Pro is the first to be able to store 1 terabyte in its memory, a significantly larger capacity than earlier models that to date has been reserved for iPads.

The new telephones will become available for purchase starting on Sept. 24 in black, white, red, blue and pink for the iPhone 13 and 13 Mini, and in black, gold, silver and sky blue for the higher-end phones.

Besides the iPhone, the firm also presented its new smartwatch with a significantly larger screen than the earlier version of the Apple Watch Series, thus increasing the amount of text that can be displayed by 50 percent.

Apple also redesigned the user interface on the new watch with larger buttons, it is just 1.7 millimeters thick, loads 30 percent faster than the Series 6 and the battery can power the watch for 18 hours.

The Apple Watch Series 7 will be available in five colors and will cost $399 when it hits the market in the fall.

The firm also launched its new standard iPad featuring the powerful A13 Bionic chip and a frontal 12-megapixel camera, along with a new iPad Mini, the smallest version yet of the popular tablet.

The standard iPad will sell for a base price of $329 for the 64-gigabyte version - substantially expanding its storage capacity - while the iPad Mini will go for $499.
