Marketing Worldwide (OTCMKTS: MWWC) has announced a stock split. In a signal to the market that operations are going well, MWWC has voted to perform a forward split. Investors familiar with the practice are aware of its benefits. But for investors who may be new to the practice of "splitting" stocks, we've decided to provide insight on the subject, using MWWC as a perfect example.

On Thursday February 17th, Marketing Worldwide (OTCMKTS: MWWC) announced a stock split, which will be effective at the end of the quarter. The move comes after a closed-door meeting of the firm's board. The unanimous vote approved a 10-to-1 forward split, meaning every shareholder will be given 10 shares for every one they hold as of March 31, 2022.

STOCK SPLITS ARE HISTORICALLY ADVANTAGEOUS

What is a forward stock split?

For the sake of this article, we will be looking at forward stock splits. Forward splits refer to the practice of turning one share of stock into multiple shares. In the instance of MWWC, they are turning every ONE share into TEN. This is a ten-for-one forward split. The new share price will equal 10% of the old share price. So, if the stock price was $10 per share before the split, it would be $1 post split. The shareholder, however, would still have the same value. They would still hold $10 in stock, but instead of having one share worth $10, they would now have ten shares worth $1 each.

THIS IS GOOD NEWS FOR THE LIQUIDITY (ABILITY TO SELL) OF A STOCK.

By making each new stock worth a fraction of the old price, it makes each share more appetizing to the market. If an investor can buy into a company for less money per share, that's a good buy for them. Firms who split their stock like this become more attractive to investors, as the investors will get more shares for their cash outlay.

AS MWWC AND ITS INVESTORS MAY VERY WELL EXPERIENCE, A STOCK SPLIT CREATES ADVANTAGEOUS OUTCOMES FOR A FEW REASONS:

- A stock split signals to the market that the firm is doing well. MWWC's cryptocurrency mining operations through their Minosis.io brand are seeing an increase in activity as more and consumers incorporate crypto into their digital wallets.

-By dropping the price per share, MWWC opens the doors to new investors who are looking to purchase stock, but may feel handcuffed because of a high price OR a need to buy excessive shares at a given price. A lower stock price entices investors.

-With this rise in overall investment/market cap, the company, and therefore its stock, would be worth more than prior to the split. A higher market cap for MWWC means a stronger return for investors and more capital injected into the business, which will allow them to grow their operations.

STOCK SPLITS BENEFIT INVESTORS

Several high-profile firms have decided to split their stock as of late. In many of these cases, investors were the big winners.

-Apple (Nasdaq:AAPL): In 2020, Apple split their stock, dropping their P/S from $540 to $135 on a 4-for-1 split. In doing so, it allowed a new wave of investors to take part in the success of the tech giant. The stock has risen 23% since the August 2020 split.

-Tesla (Nasdaq:TSLA): On the same day Apple split their stock 4-to-1, electric car manufacturer, Tesla, split their stock 5-to-1. Since then, the stock has risen more than 40%.

- Google/Alphabet (Nasdaq:GOOGL): Not to be outdone by either of their technology competitors, Alphabet recently announced a 20-to-1 stock split. On the day of this announcement, the stock rose 8% on the news. While the stock split has not taken place, Alphabet is still reaping benefits from the coming split. Since Alphabet/Google's last split in 2014, the stock price has increased from roughly $550 to now more than $2,600 per share.

MWWC's split takes place on April 1, 2022, meaning any shareholder of record will receive 10 shares of MWWC for every one share they hold on March 31st. MWWC is currently priced at $0.004 per share. Will MWWC join the ranks of Apple, Tesla, and Alphabet as a top buy for investors post-split?
