Applus+ provides aerial inspection services for the 230kv power transmission line, which covers 116.4 km in the Republic of Panama. For this project, Applus+ renders the client with its Búho System service, an aerial solution for maintenance and regulatory inspections of medium and high-voltage power lines using gyro-stabilised platforms and geolocation data.

Our experts employ a series of methods, including corona, infrared and HD visual inspection, distance measuring, and 3D modelling using LIDAR (Laser Imaging Detection) system.

In addition to the field inspections, other services include the use of a high-precision LIDAR for collecting online data to conduct geohazard and verticality assessments of the high voltage towers.

These procedures allow for the preparation of the Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) and the making of technical recommendations for the preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance of the right of way, i.e. the free passage of the power lines through the places contemplated in the legally registered licenses.

Furthermore, the study will establish the geographic sectors where there are potential geotechnical failures in the right of way, with emphasis on towers, stations or structures in the vicinity of the power transmission system examined.

This way, Applus+ experts demonstrate, once again, their ability to combine work on a global scale with local geographic knowledge, based on international best practices.
