Arcadis has been awarded by PH Consulting Pte Ltd on behalf of China Jingye Engineering Corporation Limited (Singapore Branch) to deliver Environmental Specialist Services for the Design and Construction of the Changi East Depot, a major and critical infrastructure to support the Cross Island Line (CRL). Arcadis is proud to be part of strengthening the resilience of Singapore's rail network and will be working with Land Transport Authority, who is the developing agency; and China Jingye Engineering Corporation Limited (Singapore Branch), who will provide the design and construction.

The 57-hectare Changi East Depot will house the Operations Control Centre and provide stabling and maintenance facilities for 70 trains. The CRL is the longest Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line in Singapore with more than 50 kilometres and this project will meet the needs of about one million commuters when fully operational.

Arcadis' scope of work includes provision of environmental planning during the design phase, as well as environmental management and monitoring during the construction phase of the Changi East Depot.

Benedict Chow, Head of Strategic Environmental Consulting, said: 'This is a very exciting project where we will be working with LTA and China Jingye to contribute our expertise in sustainable development for the Changi East Depot. We're privileged to be playing a part in helping the Singapore government in achieving their vision of a sustainable and world class transport system.'
