BASEL - Novartis' Sandoz division is one step closer to receiving approval for a biosimilar in the EU. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has accepted marketing authorization applications (MAAs) for denosumab for review, the generics specialist announced Thursday. It said the applications were supported by a data package showing that copycat drug was as effective as Amgen's original drugs Xgeva and Prolia.

Symrise must submit mandatory takeover offer for Swedencare

HOLZMINDEN - Symrise must submit a mandatory takeover offer for the Swedish pet food specialist following a further increase in its stake in Swedencare. The company now holds 30 percent of the shares, meaning a takeover offer must be made within four weeks, the DAX-listed group announced on Thursday. Swedencare shares rose eleven percent on the news.
