Tallink Grupp's shuttle vessel Megastar celebrates 5th anniversary Thu, 27 Jan 2022 09:00:00 +0200

Tallink Grupp's Tallinn-Helsinki route shuttle vessel Megastar celebrates its fifth anniversary this week as a member of the company's fleet. The Godmother of the ship is the former President of Finland, Mrs Tarja Halonen, and the vessel first arrived in Tallinn on 25 January 2017, had its first official sailing on 27 January 2017 and was officially launched on the Tallinn-Helsinki route on 29 January 2017. The vessel celebrates its five years as part of Tallink's fleet, having sailed 1816 days on the route and covered a total of 475 605 nautical miles with the six daily departures over the years.

The vessel, which accommodates a total of 2,800 passengers, has transported a total of 7 609 511 passengers in the last five years, having completed a total of 10 569 trips between the two capital cities.

To celebrate the occasion, Tallink will have a prize draw between all customers who purchase a ticket for Megastar on Thursday, 27 January 2022 and five lucky customers from Estonia and five from Finland will win a day ticket for two for travelling in the Business Lounge on Megastar during 2022. In order to participate in the draw, the ticket must be purchased on Thursday, 27 January 2022.

"We are pleased to celebrate this five-year birthday of our youngest fleet member and would like to take the opportunity to thank all our customers who have sailed with her over the years. We hope that our customers have had many happy moments on board Megastar as she has continued to serve the people of Estonia, Finland and further afield both during happier times before the COVID pandemic, but more importantly, during the last few turbulent years, continuing to unite families, friends, loved ones," Paavo Nõgene, CEO of Tallink Grupp said.

"We look forward to bringing MyStar on the route with her later this spring, so the two of them can continue to unite the shores of Estonia and Finland, in the greenest possible way," Nõgene added.

"My greatest thanks go to all the Tallink Silja crew members who have worked and continue to work on Megastar, ensuring that everyone who steps on board the ship is welcome, looked after and will enjoy the smoothest, most comfortable journey across the Gulf of Finland," Nõgene concluded.

Tallink Grupp's vessel Megastar has recently returned from its first ever planned technical dry-docking, during which the vessel's many technical systems received upgrades and updates and the ship's passenger areas were refreshed. Megastar continues to sail on the Tallinn-Helsinki route with six regular daily departures.
