DULUTH, Ga. (AP) _ Asbury Automotive Group Inc. (ABG) on Tuesday reported second-quarter net income of $152.1 million.

On a per-share basis, the Duluth, Georgia-based company said it had profit of $7.80. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $7.78 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $5.30 per share.

The auto dealership chain posted revenue of $2.58 billion in the period, which also beat Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.33 billion.

Asbury Automotive shares have climbed 35% since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 88% in the last 12 months.
