Today the Supervisory Board announces that Frits van Hout will retire from ASML upon completion of his current appointment term, which will end per the AGM 2021 on April 29, 2021.

Frits van Hout first served with ASML from 1984 to 1992, later rejoining the company in 2001. He was appointed to the Board of Management in 2009 as Chief Marketing Officer. In 2013, he became Chief Program Officer, where he successfully oversaw the development of the EUV business, bringing it to a level where EUV was widely accepted as the next lithography platform for the semiconductor industry. In April 2018, Frits became Chief Strategy Officer, focusing on strategy and strategic supplier relations, which has grown in significance given the rise of EUV and High-NA EUV as well as e-beam metrology and optical systems. The Supervisory Board wants to thank Frits for his significant contribution to ASML's growth and development.

ASML will not appoint a successor to Frits. As a result, the Board of Management will consist of five members effective per the AGM 2021. His current responsibilities will be taken over by the remaining Board of Management members, securing the uninterrupted execution of ASML's strategy to reach its stated targets for stakeholders.

The Supervisory Board further announces that Carla Smits-Nusteling and Douglas Grose will retire as members of the Supervisory Board at the end of their current terms. Both have served on the Supervisory Board since 2013. The Supervisory Board extends its thanks to both Carla and Douglas for their valuable contribution over the past eight years, during which the Supervisory Board has greatly benefited from their knowledge and experience.

The Supervisory Board intends to nominate Birgit Conix for appointment as member of the Supervisory Board effective from the AGM 2021. From 2018 until January 1, 2021, Birgit was a member of the Executive Board and Chief Financial Officer of TUI AG. Prior to that, she was the CFO of the Belgian media, cable and telecommunications group Telenet Group NV, and she held various management positions in finance at Johnson & Johnson, Heineken, Tenneco and Reed Elsevier.

With the retirement of Carla Smits-Nusteling and Douglas Grose, as well as the aforementioned intended nomination for Birgit Conix, ASML's Supervisory Board will consist of eight members effective from the AGM 2021.
