STOCKHOLM--Swedish lock maker Assa Abloy AB said Thursday that it has acquired Bird Home Automation GmbH, a German manufacturer of door intercoms marketed under the trademark DoorBird.

"DoorBird is a strategic technological addition to the Assa Abloy Group and will reinforce our offering with internet protocol door intercom and provide complementary growth opportunities," Assa Abloy Chief Executive Nico Delvaux said.

DoorBird was established in 2014 and has around 110 employees. Sales for 2021 amounted to about 21 million euros ($20.8 million) and the acquisition will be accretive to Assa Abloy's earnings per share from the start, it said.
