At least 15,789 people have taken the first dose of the Astrazeneca vaccine, in northren Zaire province.

Among the beneficiaries, belonging to the eligible group, in this first phase, are health technicians, patients with chronic diseases, the elderly, members of the defence, security and public order forces and others.

According to the provincial supervisor for health promotion, Andrade Lunzailawo Kianzuaku, four of the province's six municipalities are still vaccinating, namely Mbanza Kongo, Soyo, Cuimba and Nzeto.

The official, who was speaking to ANGOP in Mbanza Kongo, said that the adhesion of the target group to the campaign, since its launching on April 14, was positive. The conclusion of the first dose of the vaccine is expected in the next seven days.
