On April 3, 2023, AT&T Inc. announced that it has received shareholder proposal from The Nathan Cummings Foundation requesting the board of directors to commission a third-party, independent racial equity audit analyzing the Company's impacts on Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. Further, AT&T Inc stated that the board should be considered inputs from racial justice, civil rights organizations, employees, temporary vendors, and contractors in determining the specific matters to be analyzed and a report on the audit, prepared at reasonable cost and omitting confidential or proprietary information, should be publicly disclosed on the company's website. Further, AT&T Inc stated that the board recommended shareholders to vote against the proposal at the annual meeting of shareholders to be held on May 18, 2023
