National Men's Health Month Kicking Off National Men's Health Week in June

June is Men's Health Month, a time dedicated to encouraging men to examine and prioritize their health. Men can face a variety of healthcare needs throughout their life, and physical therapy may be an effective option for treatment.

What Conditions Do Our Therapists Treat?

Our physical therapists offer comprehensive treatment programs for men that are focused on patients who suffer from incontinence or varied types of pelvic pain. Through their specialized education and training in pelvic floor dysfunction, our expert teams are able to assess your condition and provide guidance on recommended treatment options.

What is the Pelvic Floor?

For men, the pelvic floor muscles make up a dome-shaped structure in the pelvis. These muscles are responsible for the maintenance of continence, sexual function, and pelvic organ support.

When these muscular layers are not working efficiently, men may experience bladder and/or bowel leakage, pain in that area of the body and even constipation, just to name a few. The more that is known about the common causes of pelvic floor dysfunction and what can be done to help prevent it, the better the chances of limiting or even avoiding future symptoms from occurring.
