STOCKHOLM--Swedish industrial tool maker Atlas Copco AB said Wednesday that its Edwards subsidiary will build a new manufacturing facility for vacuum and abatement systems used in the manufacture of semiconductors.

The new factory will be situated in Asan City, South Korea, and will join Edwards's existing facilities in the country.

Construction has already started and is expected to be completed by the end of July 2023 with full operation seen during the third quarter of 2023, it said.

"The investment will be important in ensuring the increased supply-chain capacity required to support growth in the global semiconductor industry," the company added.
