"It takes significant resources to fight hunger and address nutritional instability, so the goal of these dollars is to aid food banks who coordinate with local charities, schools, churches, and shelters to support individuals and families struggling to afford basic necessities," said Kelly Biegler, Atmos Energy vice president of public affairs. "As Atmos Energy continuesFueling Safe and Thriving Communities,we are extremely proud to partner with Irving Caresand further their mission of aiding Irving residents in a financial crisis with immediate basic needs like financial assistance, food pantry and employment services."
Among the hundreds of food banks and food pantries that Atmos Energy supports, Irving Cares will receive $50,000 which will allow it the opportunity to provide our communities with over 35,300 nutritious meals.
"We are able to serve Irving residents in a big way thanks to the support Atmos Energy brings to the table," said Kyle Taylor, Irving Cares CEO. "With costs of so many goods continuing to rise, the demand for emergency food assistance is high. Thanks to Atmos Energy, Irving Cares can provide boots on the ground to offer nourishing food week-in-and-week-out to our neighbors."
Hunger Action Month, a national campaign established by Feeding America in 2008, aims to educate the public about the widespread issue of hunger and encourage individuals, communities, and businesses to act by volunteering, donating, or advocating for policy change. Hunger Awareness Month is an important opportunity for communities to come together and make a positive impact on the lives of those struggling with hunger and food insecurity.
