Atmos Energy : Donating $2 Million to Area Food Banks

DALLAS - Oct. 8, 2024-September was Hunger Action Month, a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about food insecurity and inspire action to combat hunger, and Atmos Energy is donating $2 million to food banks across the eight states it serves, which will help provide food security for the natural gas company's neighbors in need. Food banks play a critical role in caring for vulnerable populations that face food supply inadequacy and nutritional instability, while also offering essential services such as nutrition education, advocacy, and assistance programs that address the root causes of hunger. Providing these nonprofit organizations with resources to collect, store, and distribute food to those in need is an essential part of Atmos Energy'sFueling Safe and Thriving Communitiesinitiative.

"It takes significant resources to fight hunger and address nutritional instability, so the goal of these dollars is to aid food banks who coordinate with local charities, schools, churches, and shelters to support individuals and families struggling to afford basic necessities," said Kelly Biegler, Atmos Energy vice president of public affairs. Among the hundreds of food banks and food pantries that Atmos Energy supports, Irving Cares will receive $50,000 which will allow it the opportunity to provide our communities with over 35,300 nutritious meals.
