Aurizon has delivered grants to 22 community groups across Australia in the latest round of its Community Giving Fund.

Aurizon Managing Director and CEO Lance Hockridge said the company's Community Giving Fund made a real difference to community groups who were aiming to improve services or get a new project off the ground.

'We are proud to be able to give back to the communities that support our people and our business, and to contribute to the success of local projects and initiatives,' Mr Hockridge said.

'The recipients of our grants provide a strong representation of the types of community initiatives our people have identified as being important to them.'

Aurizon's Community Giving Fund is a bi-annual round of cash grants and provides grants of up to $20,000 to eligible charity groups across Australia with programs or initiatives in safety, health and wellbeing, environment, and education.

More than 200 community groups have received grants since the Fund was established four years ago.

The next round is due to open for applications in March 2016.
