SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) _ Autodesk Inc. (ADSK) on Tuesday reported fiscal third-quarter profit of $132.2 million.

On a per-share basis, the San Rafael, California-based company said it had profit of 59 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.04 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 95 cents per share.

The design software company posted revenue of $952.4 million in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $940 million.

For the current quarter ending in January, Autodesk expects its per-share earnings to range from $1.04 to $1.10. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had forecast adjusted earnings per share of $1.07.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $999 million to $1.01 billion for the fiscal fourth quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $1.01 billion.

Autodesk expects full-year earnings in the range of $3.91 to $3.97 per share, with revenue ranging from $4.07 billion to $4.13 billion.

Autodesk shares have increased 41% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 12%. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $259.20, a climb of 53% in the last 12 months.
