SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) _ Autodesk Inc. (ADSK) on Thursday reported fiscal fourth-quarter net income of $89.1 million.

On a per-share basis, the San Rafael, California-based company said it had net income of 40 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were $1.50 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.43 per share.

The design software company posted revenue of $1.21 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.19 billion.

For the year, the company reported profit of $497 million, or $2.24 per share. Revenue was reported as $4.39 billion.

For the current quarter ending in May, Autodesk expects its per-share earnings to range from $1.30 to $1.36. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had forecast adjusted earnings per share of $1.51.

The company said it expects revenue in the range of $1.15 billion to $1.16 billion for the fiscal first quarter. Analysts surveyed by Zacks had expected revenue of $1.18 billion.

Autodesk expects full-year earnings in the range of $6.46 to $6.83 per share.

Autodesk shares have fallen 22% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has fallen 10%. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $218.18, a fall of 27% in the last 12 months.
