Avantium N.V., a leading technology company in renewable chemistry, has been awarded the title of "Best Disruptive Technologies Innovator in Europe in 2021 " by CFI.co (Capital Finance International), a UK based journal reporting on business, economics, and finance.

Each year, CFI.co seeks out individuals and organisations that contribute significantly to the convergence of economies and truly add value for all stakeholders.

"We are delighted to win Best Disruptive Technologies Innovator Europe at CFI Magazine CleanTech Awards 2021, It is great to be recognised for our ground-breaking technologies and their remarkable possibilities." comments Tom van Aken, Chief Executive Officer of Avantium. "Last year we reached significant milestones in bringing our technologies forward and we are pleased to see that the world recognises our efforts in accelerating the transition to the circular economy."

The last months have been a pivotal period in the journey to commercialising PEF (polyethylene furanoate), Avantium's next-generation plant-based plastic. In December 2021, Avantium announced they had taken a positive Final Investment Decision (FID) on the construction of its FDCA Flagship Plant - to which stakeholders gave a green light during January's Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).

"Avantium is driven by the ambition to make a lasting impact. We are confident about the positive change our technologies can bring to the chemical industry and hope to inspire others to develop, scale and adopt sustainable plastics.", says Tom van Aken.
