MENTOR, Ohio (AP) _ Avery Dennison Corp. (AVY) on Wednesday reported third-quarter profit of $221.5 million.

On a per-share basis, the Mentor, Ohio-based company said it had net income of $2.70. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains and restructuring gains, were $2.46 per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.51 per share.

The maker of office products posted revenue of $2.32 billion in the period, which met Street forecasts.

Avery Dennison expects full-year earnings in the range of $9.70 to $9.85 per share.

Avery Dennison shares have fallen 18% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has decreased 19%. The stock has decreased 19% in the last 12 months.
