Axfood AB Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2022

Axfood AB (publ) reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2022. For the second quarter, the company reported sales was SEK 18,468 million compared to SEK 13,903 million a year ago. Net income was SEK 586 million compared to SEK 476 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was SEK 2.75 compared to SEK 2.26 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was SEK 2.74 compared to SEK 2.25 a year ago.
For the six months, sales was SEK 35,061 million compared to SEK 27,106 million a year ago. Net income was SEK 1,276 million compared to SEK 928 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was SEK 6.02 compared to SEK 4.4 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was SEK 6.01 compared to SEK 4.38 a year ago.
Axfood AB is a Sweden-based company engaged in the food retail and wholesale trade in Sweden. The Companyâs retail business is conducted through three wholly owned chains: Willys, specializing in discount food retail; Hemkop, which is engaged in the sales of food retail products, and PrisXtra, which is a grocery chain serving the Stockholm market. The Company owns and operates over 200 retail stores. The Companyâs wholesale business is conducted through Dagab, which supplies Axfood Group and the Vi chain, and Axfood Narlivs, a convenience store wholesaler. Axfood has a portfolio of private labels, including Hemkop, Garant, Garant Ekologiska varor, Aware, Saklart, Func and Fixa. Among others, the Company operates via Middagsfrid AB. The Company's major shareholder is Axel Johnson AB.
