Batelco Group reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2016. For the quarter, the company’s gross revenues declined by 4% in compared to the same quarter in 2015. EBITDA decreased by 8% compared to the same quarter in 2015. Results from operating activities for the period were BHD 52.8 million, reflecting a 7% decrease year-over-year and 21% decrease quarter over quarter compared to third quarter of 2015. This decline is attributed to increased depreciation charges for higher capex as a result of significant network expansion throughout the Group. Net profit reported a decrease of 27% over the third quarter of 2015. The reduced net profits for the period are impacted by increased finance costs due to borrowings in the Group's operation in Jordan, one-off items recorded in 2015 and share of loss of the Group's investments. For the nine months, the company’s gross revenues down marginally by 2% year over year to BHD 273.0 million, mainly due to competitive pressures in key markets. EBITDA was BHD 105.2 million, a 2% decline year over yea. Consolidated net profit was BHD 32.5 million and earnings per share was 19.5 fils.
