Bajaj Auto Ltd.'s fourth-quarter net profit fell 3.9% compared with the same period a year earlier due to weaker domestic sales, the Indian automaker said late Wednesday.

Net profit for the quarter ended March 31 fell to 13.54 billion Indian rupees ($179.2 million). On stand-alone basis, net profit was INR13.10 billion, beating the estimate of INR9.94 billion from a poll of analysts by S&P Global Market Intelligence.

The group's fourth-quarter revenue dropped 8.1% to INR68.16 billion.

Domestic sales volume fell 33% while exports volume rose 7%.

Bajaj Auto said the nationwide lockdown to contain the Covid-19 outbreak wiped out several days of operations and it expected to see the continued impact in the near future as production hasn't recovered fully.
