Shares in Toronto were relatively flat midday Tuesday in the first session of trading after the long Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. Shares in clean energy fuel cell solutions provider Ballard Power Systems rose after the company said it will supply hydrogen fuel cell modules to a Spanish company for trials of commuter and regional passenger trains.

Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index was down 0.03% at 20409.97 while the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 slipped 0.12% to 1225.33.

Ballard Power Systems Inc. shares rose 6.8% to C$65.92 after announcing an agreement to supply eight of its hydrogen fuel cell modules to Talgo SA which would be used in trials of commuter and regional passenger trains.

Other market movers:

Argonaut Gold Inc. shares rose by 2.9% to C$2.81 on news that it has significantly increased its mineral tenure and area of potential exploration in Mexico after acquiring mineral concessions from a subsidiary of Fresnillo PLC for $5.8 million.

Shares in Taseko Mines Ltd. rose 4.9% to C$2.55 after the company said its 75%-owned mine in British Columbia saw a significant increase in production of both copper and molybdenum in the third quarter which, coupled with higher copper prices, is expected to improve its financial performance.
