--Italy is being called to provide more than 7 billion euros ($8.12 billion) in capital in order to sell off as much as it can of Banca Monte dei Paschi to UniCredit, Reuters reports, citing people familiar with the matter.

--A draft accord had been expected in time for the publication of UniCredit's third-quarter results, but it now looks like more time may be necessary, one person tells Reuters.

--UniCredit has agreed to negotiate about selected parts of Monte dei Paschi on the condition that it would only pursue a deal that had no impact on its capital position.
