This was said by Banco Bpm CEO Giuseppe Castagna during the press conference at the end of the meeting that approved the increase in the price of the Opa on Anima Holding and the delegation to the BoD for the possible waiver of some conditions for the effectiveness of the operation.
"We are very focused on running our own affairs, and there was this particularly important appointment today," Castagna said.
"Then based on the evolution of things we will decide what to do in the interest of the bank and the shareholders," he added.
Banco Bpm has the 5 percent in Mps taken over last November as part of the placement of a portion of the stake held by the Treasury, prior to the launch of UniCredit's Ops on Piazza Meda.
Yesterday La Stampa wrote that businessman Francesco Gaetano Caltagirone increased his stake in Mps to 8 percent from 5 percent just ahead of the April 17 shareholders' meeting.
