BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) _ Banco Macro SA (BMA) on Monday reported first-quarter earnings of $56.5 million.

The bank, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, said it had earnings of 88 cents per share.

The financial holding company posted revenue of $742.6 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $489.6 million, which topped Street forecasts.

Banco Macro shares have risen 15% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $16.13, a rise of 6.5% in the last 12 months.
