Bank Millennium launched setting-up and managing structured deposits in its mobile application, it also added to the application the option of filling-out the MiFID questionnaire, which allows customers to better assess their knowledge and investment experience.

Additionally the bank revamped the process in the Millenet online system, so that setting-up a structured deposit is just as intuitive and convenient in either channels.

- We are gradually introducing further investment products in mobile banking. We want customers to have even more convenient money management and that they have a wide choice of products also in the mobile app, where they can invest their savings - Halina Karpińska, Director of the Electronic Banking Department at Bank Millennium, said.

- With low interest rates, customers increasingly often reach-out for alternatives to a standard bank deposit. Although more than half of the financial assets of households is still invested in standard bank deposits, in recent months have seen changes have become visible in the saving habits of the Poles, which is reflected in increased inflow to mutual funds. Customers are also increasingly willing to reach for such products as structured deposits, which a potentially higher yield to be expected, involving 100% protection of capital if the product is held until end of the investment. Now with the mobile app they can use then anywhere and anytime - Tomasz Pol, Director of the Retail Banking Marketing Department at Bank Millennium, said.

Structured deposits are products, which combine the features of a term deposit (100% capital protection is valid throughout the life of the product, assuming that the product is held to maturity) and an investments of financial markets (potentially higher yield than in the case of standard interest rates on term deposits). The draw on the opportunities of many markets and are an excellent tool to diversify the savings portfolio. They give access to the domestic and foreign currency, shares, raw materials or commodities.

The interest rate on structured deposits depends on the value of the underlying instrument specified in the terms of the structured deposit, which may be i.a. a currency, raw materials, shares, stock exchange indices.

Performance of recently matured Bank Millennium structured deposits (over the life of the investment i.e. 18 months):

  • Structured deposit Stabilny Kurs LI - yield on the deposit was 2,8966%
  • Structured deposit Stabilny Kurs L - yield on the deposit was 3,0638%
  • Structured deposit Stabilny Kurs XLIX - yield on the deposit was 2,7200%
  • Structured deposit Stabilny Kurs XLVIII - yield on the deposit was 3,7540%
  • Structured deposit Stabilny Kurs XLVII - yield on the deposit was 4,2032%
  • Structured deposit Stabilny Kurs XLVI - yield on the deposit was 4,3432%

The MIFiD questionnaire is a document to be filled-out by customers who want to get investment products. The questionnaire aims to identify financial instruments and products as well as services, which are adequate for the client, considering his knowledge and experience with investing.

According to this Act the amount of money together with other receivables from the Bank, which is protected by the guarantee scheme in zloty, does not jointly exceed the equivalent of EUR 100 000. Money in excess of the above value is not protected by BFG. The value of euro in zloty is calculated with use of the average rate from the day of realisation of the guarantee condition, announced by the National Bank of Poland.
