  • The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy stood at 7.7% in June 2022, compared with 7.4% in the previous month.
  • The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 6.0% in June 2022, compared with 6.1% in the previous month.
  • Deposits placed by the private sector increased by €2,720 million in June 2022, compared with an increase of €1,311 million in the previous month.

I. Credit to the domestic economy

Τhe monthly net flow of total credit was positive by €2,419 million in June 2022, compared with a positive net flow of €2.124 million in the previous month (revised data).

Ι.1 Credit to the general government

InJune 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was positive by €360 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,547 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 14.0% from 15.4% in the previous month.

Ι.2 Credit to the private sector

InJune 2022, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector increased to 4.5% from 3.3% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was positive by €2.059 million, compared with a positive net flow of €577 million in the previous month (revised data).

Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations

InJune 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by €1,976 million, compared with a positive net flow of €589 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 10.0%, from 7.8% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 9.7% from 7.3% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €1,856 million, compared with a positive net flow of €764 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased to 12.2% from 12.4% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by €119 million, compared with a negative net flow of €175 million in the previous month.

Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships

InJune 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was positive by €82 million, compared with a positive net flow of €23 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate remained almost unchanged at 0.7% from 0.8% in the previous month.

Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions

In June 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was positive by €2 million, compared with a negative net flow of €35 million in the previous month (revised data); the annual growth rate remained unchanged at -2.1%.

II. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions

Τhe monthly net flow of total deposits was positive by €2,265 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,263 million in May 2022.

ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government

InJune 2022, deposits placed by the general government decreased by €456 million, compared with a decrease of €48 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to -10.6%, compared with 2.2% in the previous month.

ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector

InJune 2022, deposits placed by the private sector increased by €2,720 million, compared with an increase of €1,311 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 6.9% from 6.3% in the previous month.

ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits

InJune 2022, corporate deposits increased by €2,000 million, compared with an increase of €1,647 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 16.2% from 14.3% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs increased by €2,442 million, against an increase of €1,488 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries decreased by €443 million, compared with an increase of €159 million in the previous month.

ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions

InJune 2022, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €721 million, compared with a decrease of €336 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate remained almost unchanged to 4.1% from 4.0% in the previous month.

  1. The general government includes central government, local government and social security funds.
  2. Deposits include repos.
  3. The Bank of Greece is not included in domestic credit institutions.
