- The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy stood at 6.2% in October 2022, compared with 7.2% in the previous month.

- The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 5.4% in October 2022, compared with 6.1% in the previous month.

- Deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €550 million in October 2022, compared with an increase of €2,255 million in the previous month.

I. Credit to the domestic economy
Τhe monthly net flow of total credit was negative by €639 million in October 2022, compared with a positive net flow of €1,069 million in the previous month.

Ι.1 Credit to the general government
InOctober 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was positive by €259 million, compared with a positive net flow of €317 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 7.6% from 9.1% in the previous month.

Ι.2 Credit to the private sector
InOctober 2022, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector decreased to 5.3% from 6.0% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was negative by €898 million, compared with a positive net flow of €752 million in the previous month.

Ι.2.1 Credit to corporations
InOctober 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was negative by €665 million, compared with a positive net flow of €723 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 11.3% from 12.5% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) decreased to 10.8% from 12.3% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €606 million, compared with a positive net flow of €745 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased to 16.5% from 14.9% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by €60 million, compared with a negative net flow of €22 million in the previous month.

Ι.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships
InOctober 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative by €80 million, compared with a positive net flow of €57 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate remained almost unchanged at 0.7% from 0.8% in the previous month.

Ι.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions
In October 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by €153 million, compared with a negative net flow of €27 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate remained almost unchanged at -2.3% compared to -2.2% in the previous month.

II. Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions
In October 2022, the monthly net flow of total deposits was negative by €872 million, compared with a positive net flow of €1,807 million in September 2022.

ΙΙ.1 Deposits placed by the general government
InOctober 2022, deposits placed by the general government decreased by €322 million, compared with a decrease of €448 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to -4.9%, compared with 3.3% in the previous month.

ΙΙ.2 Deposits placed by the private sector
InOctober 2022, deposits placed by the private sector decreased by €550 million, compared with an increase of €2,255 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 5.9% from 6.2% in the previous month.

ΙΙ.2.1 Corporate deposits
InOctober 2022, corporate deposits decreased by €671 million, compared with an increase of €1,502 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 11.1% from 11.5% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs decreased by €678 million, against an increase of €1,879 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased by €6 million, compared with a decrease of €377 million in the previous month.

ΙΙ.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions
InOctober 2022, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by €121 million, compared with an increase of €753 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 4.3% from 4.6% in the previous month.

1. The general government includes central government, local government and social security funds.

3. The Bank of Greece is not included in domestic credit institutions.
