The annual growth rate of total credit extended to the domestic economy stood at 7.7% in August 2022, compared with 9.1% in the previous month.

The annual growth rate of total deposits stood at 5.2% in August 2022, compared with 5.8% in the previous month.

Deposits placed by the private sector increased by EUR89 million in August 2022, compared with an increase of EUR483 million in the previous month.

I.	Credit to the domestic economy

?he monthly net flow of total credit was negative by EUR1,580 million in August 2022, compared with a positive net flow of EUR2,832 million in the previous month.

I.1	Credit to the general government

In August 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to the general government was negative by EUR1,609 million, compared with a positive net flow of EUR2,378 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 10.9% from 15.3% in the previous month.

?.2 Credit to the private sector

In August 2022, the annual growth rate of credit to the private sector increased to 5.8% from 5.5% in the previous month. The monthly net flow of credit was positive by EUR29 million, compared with a positive net flow of EUR454 million in the previous month.

?.2.1 Credit to corporations

In August 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to corporations was positive by EUR182 million, compared with a positive net flow of EUR608 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 12.3%, from 11.8% in the previous month. In particular, the annual growth rate of credit to non-financial corporations (NFCs) increased to 11.6% from 10.9% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was positive by EUR209 million, compared with a positive net flow of EUR470 million in the previous month. The annual growth rate of credit to insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries remained almost unchanged at 19.6% from 19.5% in the previous month; the monthly net flow was negative by EUR27 million, compared with a positive net flow of EUR137 million in the previous month.

?.2.2 Credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships

In August 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to sole proprietors and unincorporated partnerships was negative by EUR21 million, compared with a negative net flow of EUR54 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 0.3% from 0.7% in the previous month.

?.2.3 Credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions

In August 2022, the monthly net flow of credit to individuals and private non-profit institutions was negative by EUR132 million, compared with a negative net flow of EUR99 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate remained unchanged at -2.1%.

II.	Deposits by the domestic economy with the domestic credit institutions

In August 2022, the monthly net flow of total deposits was positive by EUR616 million, compared with a positive net flow of EUR892 million in July 2022.

??.1 Deposits placed by the general government

In August 2022, deposits placed by the general government increased by EUR527 million, compared with an increase of EUR408 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 5.6%, compared with 1.3% in the previous month.

??.2 Deposits placed by the private sector

In August 2022, deposits placed by the private sector increased by EUR89 million, compared with an increase of EUR483 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 5.2% from 6.1% in the previous month.

??.2.1 Corporate deposits

In August 2022, corporate deposits decreased by EUR376 million, compared with a decrease of EUR304 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate decreased to 7.8% from 12.4% in the previous month. In particular, deposits from NFCs decreased by EUR412 million, against a decrease of EUR436 million in the previous month. Deposits placed by insurance corporations and other financial intermediaries increased by EUR35 million, compared with an increase of EUR131 million in the previous month.

??.2.2 Deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions

In August 2022, deposits placed by households and private non-profit institutions increased by EUR465 million, compared with an increase of EUR788 million in the previous month; the annual growth rate increased to 4.4% from 4.1% in the previous month.
