Bankia's activity in Comunidad Valenciana generated a positive impact of 2,632 million euros during 2019 and contributed to creating a total of 71,045 jobs in the region, according to the report 'The Impact of Bankia on the Economy and Society 2019', that has been prepared by the specialised firm Valora Consultores.

The contribution of Bankia's activity as a financial institution had a direct impact generated by 279 million euros and 8,144 jobs in the economy of Comunidad Valenciana through tax contributions, the payment of salaries, purchases from suppliers and social collaborations.

In terms of social issues, Bankia, through its collaboration with social entities in the region, including the annual agreement signed with the Fundación Bancaja and Fundación Caixa Castelló, benefited more than 101,565 people in 2019.

As part of its commitment to the environment, in 2019 the bank participated in the financing of a renewable energy project in the Comunidad Valenciana that avoided 42,460 tonnes of CO2.

In addition, financing in loans and credits granted to individuals, companies, SMEs and self-employed workers in the three provinces generated an impact on the Valencian economy of 2,353 million euros and boosted 62,901 jobs.

In its business strategy, the financial institution incorporates environmental, social and good governance criteria, maintaining a relationship with stakeholders focused on generating value and mutual benefit.

To do this, it has a Responsible Management policy that contributes to guiding the business, managing risks and taking advantage of opportunities. This performance is linked to the contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for compliance with the 2030 Agenda and the contribution to the Principles of Responsible Banking and to the Collective Commitment to Climate Action, promoted by the United Nations and signed by the entity in 2019.
