Bankia and Universidad de Granada have signed a collaboration agreement to financially support the development of the 'Women innovate' workshop, a get-together in which researchers from the Universidad de Granada, members of other international networks, as well as representatives of companies from different spheres and productive sectors will meet with the aim of improving the relationship between the University and private sector companies.

The agreement was signed at the headquarters of the Universidad de Granada in presence of the rector of the UGR, Pilar Aranda Ramírez; Bankia's Regional Corporate Director in Andalucía, Joaquín Holgado, Bankia's Communication and External Relations Coordinator in Andalucía, José Antonio González Morales; and the Entrepreneurship Director of the UGR and project manager, María del Mar Fuentes.

During the event, Joaquín Holgado expressed his 'satisfaction' with the signing of an agreement of this nature and highlighted 'Bankia's commitment to the development of the region, its confidence in Andalucía and the knowledge that emerges from universities, in particular, in the contribution of women researchers to innovation and to the generation of wealth'.

Pilar Aranda, for her part, thanked 'Bankia for its collaboration and support for UGR's entrepreneurship and, in particular, for this project of the 'Entrepreneurial Leadership of Women Researchers' in order to highlight the trajectory and contribution of academic women to innovation, entrepreneurship and social transformation'. In addition, she pointed out that it is 'necessary to create awareness among society regarding the value that university scientists and academics contribute through different and original initiatives such as the #SonPioneras platform'.

María del Mar Fuentes, for her part, highlighted 'the importance of this collaboration to drive the leadership of women scientists in the generation of wealth with greater participation in the transfer of knowledge and in the creation of companies in highly innovative sectors'.

The 'Women innovate' workshop, which will take place within the framework of the agreement, aims, first and foremost, to promote and disseminate research of excellence and quality produced by academic women, and, secondly, to strengthen their presence in the productive sectors and their participation in transfer activities with economic and social agents.

Entrepreneurial leadership of women researchers

The project 'Entrepreneurial Leadership Programme for Researchers', financed by the Knowledge Transfer Activities of PAIDI 2020 (Department of I+D+i of the Junta de Andalucía) is born from the Universidad de Granada, together with the participation of UGR Emprendedora, the collaboration of the OTRI and the Vice-Rector's Office for Equality, Inclusion and Sustainability.

Within the framework of this project, a set of training activities will be carried out, including round tables with leading researchers and entrepreneurs, a dissemination campaign through the 'SonPioneras' platform, meetings with companies and institutions, as well as the design of a proposal for transfer indicators that allow obtaining data based on gender and help to establish policies that contribute to equality.

UGR Emprendedora

The Universidad de Granada, within the framework of the entrepreneurial strategy developed under the 'UGR emprendedora' brand, carries out various activities for the promotion, development and business ideas arising from the more than 60,000 members of the university community.

The signing of the agreement with Bankia consolidates one of the strategic lines promoted by the General Entrepreneurship Coordination of the Universidad de Granada, aimed at facilitating access to resources for university entrepreneurs (students, graduates, teachers, researchers and the rest of the university community) that pursue the creation of innovative companies that contribute to the economic development of Granada.
