• The agreement, which increases the amount contributed in 2020 by 20,000 euros, includes the implementation of the '2021 Call for Proposals for Social Action' and the '2nd Environment and Sustainable Development Call', among other joint initiatives
  • The agreement was signed by Bankia's Regional Corporate Director in Castilla y León, Lola Peñas; Bankia's Segovia Centre-South regional director, José Gabriel García Encinar; the chairman of Fundación Caja Segovia, Francisco Javier Reguera, and the director of the Foundation, Rafael Ruiz

This year Bankia will be contributing 170,000 euros to Fundación Caja Segovia with the aim of supporting social, environmental and cultural projects developed in the province of Segovia, which will be jointly managed by both entities.

The agreement, which has been renewed for the seventh consecutive year, was signed in the Tapestry Room of the Torreón de Lozoya, headquarters of Fundación Caja Segovia. The event was attended by Bankia's Regional Corporate Director in Castilla y León, Lola Peñas; Bankia's Segovia Centre-South regional director, José Gabriel García Encinar; the chairman of Fundación Caja Segovia, Francisco Javier Reguera, and the director of the Foundation, Rafael Ruiz.

Bankia's Regional Corporate Director in Castilla y León stressed that 'once again we want to continue making our contribution, together with Fundación Caja Segovia, to the social, economic and environmental development of a province as important to us as is Segovia'. 'In the current complex context, it is more necessary than ever to be on the side of those who need it most and to ensure the continuance of the programmes already in place', she said.

For his part, the chairman of Fundación Caja Segovia thanked the continuity and increase of this important support for the implementation of actions, increasingly diversified in the province of Segovia, 'which constitute an indispensable aid in these adverse times'.

The signing of this agreement will enable the launch of initiatives such as the '2021 Call for Proposals Social Action', which aims to, in addition to strengthening the Segovian association sector, support projects by non-profit organisations that work in the Segovia region such as training and guidance aimed at employment, improving the quality of life of unemployed or disabled people, as well as groups at risk of social exclusion from the province or the development of rural areas.

This economic boost will also provide further drive to the '2nd Call for the Environment and Sustainable Development', which will support projects related to environmental challenges in the province and this year will increase its allocation by 10,000 euros to strengthen control projects against climate change.

On the other hand, the 'Call for Proposals of Allocation Spaces for the Organisation of Activities' will be renewed, which encourages participation of all non-profit organisations with a social, environmental or cultural purpose within the Segovia region, who wish to use Fundación Caja Segovia Hall for holding educational, informative or cultural events.

These initiatives will be added to by other activities in the cultural sphere that will be carried out in the Torreón de Lozoya and to this end both entities are currently working on the project, always paying attention to the health recommendations derived from the pandemic.
