• Moltó and Tonet IV came together on Friday for the traditional presentation of the most significant game of the season in the modality of raspell
  • The championship will be taking place next Sunday at the trinquet de Bellreguard in a game broadcast live by À Punt, the regional public television

Bankia and the Fundació per la Pilota Valenciana presented the final of the '34th Individual Campionat Bankia-Trofeu President of the Generalitat' in the modality of raspall, which will bring Moltó and Tonet IV face-to-face next Sunday at the Bellreguard trinquet. The game, which was presented at Bankia's headquarters in Valencia, will be broadcast live on the regional television channel, À Punt, starting at 12.00 am

The presentation was also attended by Jaime Casas, regional director in Valencia and Castellón, the general director of Sport, Josep Miquel Moya; the president of the Fundació per la Pilota Valenciana, Josep Maria Catalunya; and the president of the Federació de Pilota Valenciana, José Daniel Sanjuan.

Moltó, 28, faces his sixth final and is ready to win his fifth title. The current champion has passed the different qualifying rounds with authority, demonstrating his skills in this hand-to-hand discipline, and his mastery of all facets of the game and excellent physical fitness. For Moltó it will be his first showdown with Tonet IV at the Campionat Individual Bankia, although 'we have played many games over the years'. Likewise, Moltó has defined his rival as 'a very brave and fast player. He also has a winning character and never gives up, which is an admirable trait ', said the defender of the title.

At the age of 22, this is Tonet IV's first stab at the title. The Genovés pilota player had never competed hand to hand, in any category. Tonet IV's trajectory has been commendable for the skill with which he has dispatched his rivals and, above all, for his magnificent skills in each game. 'I think I will play in the same way as I have done in the other the games in the championship. I did well', said the Genovés, who said that Moltó is 'a hard-hitting all-rounder. I hope he misses a few, I have a lot of work to do'.

The presentation was led by the Regional Director of Bankia in Valencia and Castellón, Jaime Casas, who said that 'this presentation and the grand final to be held next Sunday, are the culmination of our season of professional championships of the Valencian pilota. The good news is that it will be held before a physical audience, albeit a small one, but with fans and followers of the sport at the Bellreguard trinquet. 'On behalf of Bankia and all the lovers of this sport, we wish them both the best of luck. We have overcome a difficult year but more than ever, we are proud to support the main male and female Valencian pilota championships', added Casas.

The organisers of the championship, the Fundació per la Pilota Valenciana, was represented by its president, Josep Maria Catalunya, who acknowledged Bankia's role, noting that 'everyone needs to work together to raise the profile of pilota'. 'The Bankia team shows its love for the pilota every day. We appreciate all the work you have done in different sectors of society. Bankia, the Federació and the Fundació have to make this work for many years to come', he said.

Another of the speakers was the president of the Federació de Pilota Valenciana, José Daniel Sanjuan, who highlighted that this final has been unique. 'Tonet IV is doing very well. He played very well in the semifinal and will give Moltó a run for his money, who may claim ownership of the Greek frieze. We are expecting a spectacular game from these two magnificent finalists', he added. Sanjuan also thanked Josep Maria Catalunya for his 'efforts as president of the Fundació', and Bankia for 'always sponsoring the sport of pilota. We know you care about pilota. Coming here is like being at home.

According to the resolution of the Generalitat of Valencia issued last Saturday on new measures to halt the spread of the pandemic, an audience will be allowed, with a capacity limited to 150 spectators.
