Item 8.01 Other Events.

On October 21, 2021, BankUnited, N.A. (the "Bank"), a wholly-owned subsidiary of BankUnited, Inc. (the "Company") reached a settlement with the Florida Department of Revenue related to certain tax matters for the 2009-2019 tax years and recorded a tax benefit of $43.9 million, net of federal impact. Unrelated to the Florida settlement, the Bank expects to record an additional approximately $25 million tax benefit in the fourth quarter of 2021 related to a reduction in the liability for unrecognized tax benefits arising from expiration of statutes of limitation in the Federal and certain state jurisdictions.
