The SNB (Swiss National Bank) is recalling its eighth-series banknotes1 as of 30 April 2021. These banknotes will lose their status as legal tender and can no longer be used for payment purposes.

They can be exchanged without a time limit at the SNB's cash offices in Berne and Zurich and at the SNB agencies. In addition, they will continue to be accepted in payment by the Confederation's public cash offices, i.e. Swiss Post and SBB, until 30 October 2021.

BCGE clients can pay in these notes at any of the Bank's ATMs until further notice, or exchange them at the BCGE de l'Ile branch, Quai de l'Ile 17, 1204 Geneva.

Further information is available on the BNS website.

1Banknotes from the eighth series were put into circulation between 1995 and 1998.
