At the Baosteel Technology Innovation Work Conference held on February 17 in 2014, the technical innovation work ideas and the key work of the company in the new year were made clear. The conference called on the general scientific and technical personnels to adhere to the market orientation, aim at the leading technology, create the value with wisdom and make unremitting efforts for the vision and goals of constructing the differentiated enterprise with competitive advatage and the early realization of "Becoming the iron & steel technology leader".

Last year, Baosteel solidly put forward the planning and implementation of a new round of technical innovation, constantly optimized the management system and process of the technical innovation, started a new round of "Golden Apple Program"，faced to the users and sped up the development process of the new products and took the plant and institute synergy as the guidance to quickly solve the site problems and put forward the cost reduction of the technology.  At the same time, much work had been done by Baosteel in the aspects such as the technological innovation supporting the environmental management, the implementation of the intellectual property strategy and the establishment of the long-term incentive mechanism of technical personnels etc. In the whole year, the global initial release of 5 products were realized, the proportion of the patent for invention reached 55.08%, the sales rate and the technical cost reduction amount of the new products increased substantially. Low Temperature and High Magnetic Induction Oriented Silicon Manufacturing Technology Development and Industrialization won the first prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. A number of scientific and research achievements such as Advanced High- strength Thin Strip Manufacturing Technology and Industrialization won the Science & Technology Award of Shanghai and the metallurgical industry. Baosteel also won the Asia's Most Admired Knowledge Managing Enterprise Award. This year, Baosteel science and technology system has carried out serious consideration and careful planning and put forward the general idea of the technical innovation in the new year: market orientation, technology leading, collaborative innovation and value enhancement.  In 2014, Baosteel will continue to innovate, accelerate to realize the technology leadship, speed up the implementation of the Golden Apple Plan Task, adhere to the cultivating and promoting of the global initial release and persist in the benchmarking wiht the first-class enterprise, Baosteel will transform the functions, strengthen the service, deepen a coordination mechanism in which one institute is for one plant, improve the node management of the project and establish the technical innovation management system of supporting Zhanjiang iron and steel etc, further enhancing the management efficiency. Baosteel will adhere to the market orientation, build the competitive advantage of the products and cost difference, make sure to complete the challenge goal of the technical cost reduction and enhance the value of innovation. Baosteel will construct the external cooperation network, explore to establish the depth cooperation model of the production, study and research, strengthen the high efficient coordination of the multi-base and drive the improvement of the overall techncial strength of Baosteel Group. This year, Baosteel will also continue to increase the exploraton efforts in the enterprise innovation culture aspects such as deeping the knowledge management operation, creating the value and pursuing leadship etc.

In the speech, Dai Zhihao, general manager of Baosteel said, "In order to become the techncial leader in the world steel industry, Baosteel must lead the industry technology progress, guide the potential demande of the market and become the birthplace of the new products, new technology and new standard. Baosteel should further promote EVI, enhance the global initial release ability, 'Go first and Go fast' and improve the efficiency of research and development. Baosteel should further strengthen the supporting efforts made by the technical innovation for the environmental management and Zhanjiang project construction. He emphasized that the scientific and techncial innovation personnels are the key. All the relevant units should brew and explore the personnel training and incentive mechanism and make full use of the innovation platform of the Golden Apple Plan to make the technical innovation talented personnels constantly emerge in so big a world.

At the conference, Baosteel Science & Technology Development Department and the Central Rearch Institute respectively elaborated the their own work emphasis and focus. "Focusing on the Initial Release", " Cost Reduction of the technology ", "Plant and Institue Synergy" and "R& D Transformation" etc. have become the key words of the technology innovation of the company. Zhang Zhonghua, the lead researcher of Baosteel talked about the feeling and understanding of the R & D work. At the conference, the following teams and members were commended, including 10 "Outstanding Technical Teams" of Baosteel in 2013 such as the "Car Plate Products and Use Technology Golden Apple Team" etc, 14 "Science & Technology Stars" such as Yang Xiaozhen etc. in the hot rolling mill and 6 "New Stars of the Science and Technology" such as Yu Guopu etc. in the ironmaking plant.
