Barclays today announces changes to its M&A team covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Omar Faruqui will become Co-head of M&A for EMEA, alongside Pier Luigi Colizzi, Co-head of M&A for EMEA, who was recently appointed to an expanded role as Head of Investment Banking for Continental Europe. Since joining Barclays in 2018, Omar has co-led the UK M&A business, which currently holds a #3 ranking.

Derek Shakespeare is appointed Chairman of UK M&A. Derek, who has been co-leading the UK M&A business alongside Omar, will use his extensive experience to further enhance Barclays' M&A dialogue with UK clients. In addition to his role as Chairman, Derek retains responsibilities as Head of FIG M&A for EMEA.

Pat Guerin is appointed Head of TMT M&A for EMEA. Pat has led numerous transactions for sell-side technology and media clients since he joined Barclays in 2016.

Reid Marsh, Head of Investment Banking for Europe, Middle East and Asia Pacific, and Gary Posternack, Global Head of M&A, commented: 'These appointments reflect our focus on EMEA and, in particular, the M&A opportunity in the region. Our business has grown significantly in recent years, and these senior promotions will put us in a stronger positon to further strengthen our business and provide best-in-class M&A advice to our clients.'

Barclays also recently announced the appointment of Anthony Samengo-Turneras Head of M&A for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and Gauthier Le Milon as Head of M&A for France, Belgium and Luxembourg.
