New York, NY - September 5, 2019 -Barnes & Noble, Inc., the world's largest retail bookseller, today announced The Testaments by Margaret Atwood as the September 2019 selection for the Barnes & Noble Book Club, a monthly book club designed to bring readers in communities across the country together to discuss the most compelling books. Barnes & Noble is selling a special, exclusive Book Club edition of The Testaments as well as hosting a free Book Club night for customers to discuss the novel in stores across the country on Wednesday, October 9, at 7 PM local time. Customers can pre-order the exclusive edition on BN.com, and find it in stores on September 10.

'The Testaments is one of the most highly-anticipated books of the year, and for good reason,' said Liz Harwell, Senior Director of Merchandising, Trade Books at Barnes & Noble. 'Margaret Atwood's much-anticipated sequel to the now classic The Handmaid's Tale takes readers back to Gilead 15 years later to follow three female characters, connected to Offred, living in the patriarchal totalitarian regime. We can't wait to put this book in the hands of readers and then invite them back to our stores to hear their reactions and insights to this landmark publication.'

Barnes & Noble holds Book Club discussions about one month after the Company's book of the month selection is released. The Barnes & Noble Exclusive Edition of The Testaments has a Q&A with Margaret Atwood and a Reading Group Guide.

Previous Barnes & Noble Book Club selections include: The Female Persuasion by Meg Wolitzer, Clock Dance by Anne Tyler, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing by Hank Green, The Only Woman in the Room by Marie Benedict, The Last Romantics by Tara Conklin, The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See, Lost Roses by Martha Hall Kelly, The Guest Book by Sarah Blake, Mrs. Everything by Jennifer Weiner, The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead, and Inland by Téa Obreht.
