BASF SE said Thursday that it has named a new chief technology officer and that it has made additional changes to its board of executive directors.

The German chemicals conglomerate said it has appointed Melanie Maas-Brunner as its new chief technology officer, effective from Feb 1, 2021, when she will also become a member of the board of executive directors.

Ms. Maas-Brunner will succeed Martin Brudermueller in the role. Mr. Brudermueller will remain chairman of the board.

The company also said Wayne T. Smith is leaving the board as of May 31, 2021 and will be succeeded by Michael Heinz in his responsibilities in the North America region.

The takeover will be effective from June 1, 2021, after a transition period. Mr. Heinz will retain his responsibilities for the South America region, BASF said.
