BASF has announced a strategic realignment of its copper hydrometallurgy business to meet growing demand for copper and address sustainability challenges.

Specifically, the company plans to strengthen its LixTRA range and develop new, more efficient leaching agents. Global research on leaching will also be transferred from Tucson to Houston to promote collaborative innovation.

Technical capabilities related to solvent extraction and electroextraction will also be brought closer to customers, who will benefit from better support, the company said.

BASF also said it is continuing its advances in mineral flotation through its Lupromin, Luprofroth and Luproset brands.
