CALGARY, Alberta (AP) _ Baytex Energy Corp. (BTE) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $857.2 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Calgary, Alberta-based company said it had profit of $1.50. Losses, adjusted for asset impairment gains, came to 11 cents per share.

The oil and natural gas company posted revenue of $360.1 million in the period.

In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit 52 cents. A year ago, they were trading at $1.09.
