Their songs have regularly topped the charts in the world's most important music markets - and their highly anticipated new studio album will soon be released by BMG: 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) have signed a new global recordings deal with BMG - their first new label home since the release of their self-titled debut album in 2014 . Fresh off a live performance in Los Angeles, their first live concert appearance in two years, the group is currently preparing their upcoming and highly anticipated new fifth full-length studio album and world tour.

Formed in 2011, 5 Seconds of Summer is a multi-platinum pop/rock band hailing from Australia featuring Luke Hemmings (vocals/guitar), Michael Clifford (vocals/guitar), Calum Hood (vocals/bass), and Ashton Irwin (vocals/drums). The band got their start bringing their pure punk energy to pop music and quickly became a global phenomenon. Touring the world several times over, the band has sold over 2.5 million concert tickets to date, been recognized as the only band in Billboard 200 history to see its first three studio albums debut at Number One, and amassed over 8 billion streams, including recently joining Spotify's exclusive Billions Club with their hit single 'Youngblood'. Among their many accomplishments, 5 Seconds of Summer have been recognized with numerous prestigious accolades including 10 European Music Awards, five ARIA Awards, two MTV Video Music Awards, an American Music Award, a People's Choice Award, two iHeartRadio Music Awards, and three APRA Awards.

The band celebrates its 10th anniversary this year
In a collective statement, the band said, "We are both proud and excited to be sharing this next chapter with the team at BMG. Their ambition and drive to partner with us was clear from the very beginning and they very much supported our vision for the future. They encourage our independence as recording artists and we love how collaborative this relationship will be, which feels important for us in our 10th year as a band. We want to thank everyone past and present for being part of our journey and can't wait for our fans to hear new music which will be coming very soon!"
Benjamin Evans, manager of 5 Seconds of Summer, said, "It is testament to the band's unity, hard work and ambition that in this tenth year together, they still share the same enthusiasm and aspiration to make music and be the biggest band in the world. We're now looking forward and want to thank Hartwig Masuch, Thomas Scherer, Dan Gill, Cyndi Lynott and the entire team at BMG for showing such passion to be part of this band's future." Dan Gill, BMG, EVP Recorded Music, Los Angeles, said: "After an extraordinary decade of creating music together, 5SOS continue to grow and evolve, producing new and invigorating music that is just as effervescent as ever. Their dedication to the fans drives them creatively to reach new levels of sophistication in their music and their passion is unrivalled. We look forward to a very bright future together introducing their new music to the world." And Thomas Scherer, BMG, President Repertoire & Marketing, Los Angeles & New York, added: "With their high level of success and global appeal, BMG is the perfect partner for a band of this magnitude and what they want to accomplish. Ash, Michael, Luke, and Calum are now in the driver's seat as both entrepreneurs and creators. We will be working together as partners every step of the way to bring them to the next level they so very much deserve. We are proud to welcome the band, Ben Evans, James Sully, and the entire 5SOS team and family to BMG." Chart toppers in many countries
In 2014, 5 Seconds of Summer released their debut single "She Looks So Perfect," which topped the charts in five countries including Australia and the U.K. Their self-titled debut album peaked at Number One in 14 countries including both their home country Australia and the U.S. To date, the album has been certified Gold or Platinum in 13 countries. The band released their second album "Sounds Good Feels Good" in 2015. It topped the charts in nine countries, including Australia, the UK, and the US, and sold more than 1.5 million albums worldwide. The "Sounds Live Feels Live" World Tour that followed was ranked as one of "Billboard" magazine's top hottest tours of 2016. The band's critically acclaimed third album "Youngblood," released in 2018, became their third Number One album in Australia. In the U.S., 5 Seconds of Summer became the first Australian act to achieve three consecutive chart-topping albums on the Billboard 200 while simultaneously becoming the first band worldwide to have their first three full-length albums debut at Number One. The single "Youngblood" is the fourth highest-selling Australian single of the 2010 decade and is the 11th best-selling single in Australian history, selling over five million copies worldwide within the first six months of its release. The album is currently certified Gold or Platinum in six countries.

In March 2020, the LA-based band released their fourth studio album "CALM," delivering their most sonically ambitious work to date. Collaborating with some of music's leading producers, the band brought a new depth and dimension to their industrial and harmony-driven sound. Released amidst a global pandemic with international lockdowns, curfews, stay-at-home orders, travel bans, and no live tour in support, the album topped the charts in three countries including the U.K. and marked the band's fourth consecutive Number One in their home country. This achievement made them the second Australian band in history to have their first four full-length studio albums debut at Number One on Australia's ARIA albums chart.
