BMG Releases New Iron Maiden Album 'Senjutsu'

On September 3rd, BMG released 'Senjutsu,' the 17th studio album by British rock and metal icons Iron Maiden. In the U.S., the record was released through Sanctuary Records. Since taking over the label in 2013, BMG has held Iron Maiden's U.S. publishing rights. Here alone, 120,000 copies of 'Senjutsu' were shipped at launch.

On September 3rd, BMG released 'Senjutsu,' the 17th studio album by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden and their first album of new material in six years. There is no question that 'Senjutsu' will debut in the U.S. charts, the most important music market in the world, this week, most likely in the Top 3, given the 120,000 albums shipped at launch.

This number represents a 15-percent increase on Iron Maiden's previous album 'The Book Of Souls.' 'Senjutsu,' released by Sanctuary Records, went straight to #2 in the U.S. iTunes charts on Friday. BMG is accompanying the U.S. release with exclusive retail campaigns at Target, Walmart, and Amazon. BMG has been working with Iron Maiden since 2013, when it acquired Sanctuary Records - the label came with the band's U.S. publishing rights. Since then, BMG has worked with the band to create a successful vinyl reissue campaign, a Mastered for iTunes campaign, and 'The Studio Collection - Remastered,' a reissues series of the Iron Maiden catalog covering all of the band's sixteen studio albums across their career to date. Ahead of the release of the new album 'Senjutsu,' BMG had released the single 'The Writing On The Wall,' which among other things soared to #3 on the 'Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs' chart in July; the accompanying video has already racked up close to twelve million views on YouTube. The second single off the album, 'Stratego,' has just entered the Billboard Hot Hard Rock Songs chart at #22.

The group's last studio album, 'The Book Of Souls,' released via BMG in September 2015, debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200. In terms of chart performance, it was Iron Maiden's most successful album to date, debuting at #1 in more than 43 countries. Iron Maiden have over 100 million record sales and more than 2,000 live performances in 63 countries under their belts. In Summer 2022, the band will resume the final leg of their 'Legacy Of The Beast' world tour, which began in 2018 and has since been taken around the world, playing to nearly two million people.
