BEST and its employees once again joined the fight against the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic. As part of a fundraiser organised among BEST's employees, PLN 8,600 were collected, which will be used to finance the purchase of a respirator for the University Centre for Maritime and Tropical Medicine in Gdynia (Uniwersyteckie Centrum Medycyny Morskiej i Tropikalnej). BEST donated another PLN 40,000 for the purchase of specialist medical equipment, including an ultrasound machine for diagnosing people infected with the coronavirus.

- Now more than ever, we need to support each other, unite and act together to overcome the pandemic. It makes me proud to see our employees join the fundraiser at this difficult time. Although almost a year has passed since the outbreak of the pandemic, our hospitals still are in need of equipment. We could not remain indifferent to the requests of the healthcare professionals in our region, who are doing their best to help our community. So, once again, we decided that BEST would finance the purchase of the necessary equipment - said Krzysztof Borusowski, President of the Management Board of BEST. In addition to money, BEST also donated small office equipment for medical staff to be able to do administrative work.

This is not the time that BEST Group has become involved in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. In early April, the Group donated a total of PLN 600,000 to hospitals in Gdynia and Elbląg, and to the local government of Gdynia. During the first wave of the pandemic, the University Centre for Maritime and Tropical Medicine in Gdynia received PLN 400,000, which were used to buy hospital beds, coveralls for the personnel as well as anti-bedsore mattresses, stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors and a number of other vital medical items. The hospital used some of the money to pay for the mobile coronavirus testing facility in Gdynia, which has been in operation since April.

Elbląg City Hospital received a donation from BEST amounting to PLN 100,000, most of which was used to finance the purchase of a respirator, and PLN 10,000 was used to buy protective coveralls.

The Gdynia City authorities announced that the donation made by BEST was used to buy 1,500 protective aprons, over 80,000 gloves, almost 1,800 face shields and more than 4,000,000 litres of disinfectant.

BEST is also committed to helping the local community in other ways. Since schools have switched from stationary to remote learning, we bought, among other things, tablets and school materials for the children's home in Elbląg.
