South Korea's largest convenience store brand, CU, has introduced a vending machine to serve alcoholic drinks, according to an ajudaily.com report.

BGF Retail, which operates CU, said it has introduced an unmanned vending machine for alcoholic drinks that can authenticate customers using a smartphone app or via credit cards at a resort facility in Goseong, which is about 97 miles northeast of Seoul.

A photograph shows a customer using a touchscreen to order a product that is adjacent to a glassfront machine holding single-serve cans and bottles.

The chain plans to deploy more machines at CU stores that run unmanned at night.
