Newman Operations is piloting a new Maintenance Associates program to help local Indigenous residents get a foot in the door at BHP.

'We are impressed with all the talent we have here in Newman, and have partnered with traditional owners to ensure the program is a success,' said Marie Bourgoin, General Manager at Newman Operations.

Pathways Supervisor Lou Lockyer said the program is all about getting hands on experience.

'Our Maintenance Associates shadow and assist BHP employees in our Mobile Equipment Maintenance team,' Lou said.

'Our goal is to give our Maintenance Associates a real pathway into a trade and full time employment at BHP.'

The Maintenance Associates program at BHP's Newman Operations is open to Indigenous residents in Newman of any age and experience.

Our next recruitment drive will be in 2021. Check the BHP careers webpage and local networks for more information.
