BHP Group PLC said Thursday that it intends to cut its operational greenhouse gas emissions by at least 30% by fiscal 2030.

The world's largest listed miner by market value said it will take scope 3 actions to contribute to decarbonization and will work on linking executive remuneration to the delivery of its climate plan.

BHP had already pledged to achieve net zero operational--scope 1 and 2--emissions by 2050. It had also said it would bring those emissions below fiscal 2017 levels by the 2022 financial year.

"Our portfolio is well positioned to support the transition to a lower carbon world aligned with the Paris Agreement. It includes commodities that are essential for global economic growth and the world's ability to transition to, and thrive in, a low carbon future," Chief Executive Mike Henry said.
