BIC SIX ENACTUS TEAMS TO BE MENTORED AS PART OF BIC'S QUALITY EDUCATION CHALLENGE
The BIC Corporate Foundation and BIC UK & Ireland have launched the third edition of the 'BIC Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education' competition in partnership with Enactus UK. BIC invites Enactus teams working on projects aligned with the Foundation's pillars (fight against school dropout, education for girls and women, and environmental education) to apply for mentorship from BIC team members and seed funding.
This year, 21 applications were received and after an evaluation done by BIC mentors and the Foundation, six projects were shortlisted to receive mentoring. They were announced on November 27. Winners will be announced on January 28, 2021, and the top three teams will receive seed funding for their work.
The shortlisted projects include:
Enactus Lancaster & Get Girls Diagnosed - Tackling the harmful consequences on the education of neurodiverse females caused by gender discrepancies in Autism and how it is diagnosed.
Enactus Sheffield Hallam & STEM4Schools -Inspiring the next generation of scientists in Sheffield primary schools through tailor-made resources and workshops to make a career in STEM more accessible and desirable.
Enactus Hertfordshire & Motiv8 - Developing and delivering interactive workshops to boost the self-esteem, well-being and ambition of disadvantaged students aged 14-16.
Enactus Middlesex & Greenspace - Delivering workshops to educate primary school children on the importance of biodiversity and the natural world through the conversion of a local green space into a pocket park and wetland.
Enactus Sussex & Revive - Fighting the digital learning gap and enriching the educational experience of disadvantaged students by providing increased access to laptops obtained from corporate partners.
Enactus Cardiff Met & Hero's Haven -Inspiring and connecting disadvantaged children by co-creating forest gardens that offer sanctuary, community engagement and environmental education while linking sites of deprivation with sites of learning.
